According to a list released by the Treasury Department, 1,335 people renounced their US citizenship or long-term residency in Q1, 2015. This is the highest quarterly number since a law requiring the publication of their names was enacted in the 1990s according to the Wall Street Journal. In 2014 a total of 3,415 renunciation were recorded and 2,999 in 2013.
The number seems to increase ad the USA has scaled up efforts to catch tax cheats.
