R. Wood in a Forbes article states that the acquittal of R. Weil sends the message that despite the long reach of the government ‘for those with the budget and intestinal fortitude to play it out, …, an acquittal is possible’.

He was accused in South Florida federal court of conspiracy to defraud the Internal Revenue Service. Weil’s lawyer M. Menchel says, as reported by Reuters, ‘The jury sent a strong message to the government. This case should never have been brought.”
