President Obama announced that US Attorney General Eric Holder will quit the Department of Justice (DoJ) once a replacement has been found. This departure triggered a number of comments and statements, some are reported on the DoJ website. On Reuters Barbara Arnwine, president of the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights, says “We’ve always seen him as an important spokesperson for the administration and that role should not go unfulfilled.”
In his pursuit of tax evaders, he was part of the elaboration of the US Program, the agreement to a solution to the tax dispute between the Swiss banks and the USA. It culminated with Credit Suisse guilty plea in May and the $2.6bn fine.
